Communication Mistakes

17 May

Here’s another article by Sean Dent.  Are you guilty of making these communication mistakes?  I know I am from time to time even though I’ve been serving the public for over 20 years.  Remember…step back and think about what you are saying and how and how you are communicating with your patients and their family.  Pop on over to Sean’s article for the full story:

Post Graduation Blues

16 May

Anyone else experiencing post graduation blues?  I feel so down now that all the excitement of graduation and pinning are over.  It’s strange knowing there are no more classes, no more exams (except the NCLEX), no more study sessions.  There’s a big void now.  School was such a major part of the last three years of my life and now it’s done.  I can look forward to working, but with licensing changes that have taken place here in Indiana, it’s not certain when we’ll get to sit for the NCLEX.  Things are a bit up in the air, and it’s pretty frustrating to be honest.

Why is Nursing School so Hard?

07 May

Here’s a nice little article at Scrubsmag.com that give one opinion on why nursing school is so hard.  An interesting little read.  Other than the part about being a calling, I agree with the author’s points of view.  Nursing school is tough for a reason.  It has to be.  Lives are literally at stake.

Head over to the article at http://scrubsmag.com/why-is-nursing-school-so-hard and have a read.  I think you’ll enjoy it.

The Job Offer

09 Apr

Today was a huge day for me and the family.  After a nearly year long job interview, I was offered a full time night position in the ICU where I’ve had my externship.  I gladly accepted.  Contingent upon successfully completing my ASN degree and passing the NCLEX, I will be working as an RN in the very near future!  Wow!  A real job, with a living wage and benefits.  I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited for this.
